Note
- Applications are different depending on which Tier you are applying for
- Only 23 organizations are allowed into Tier I
- If you apply for Tier I and are not recommended for funding, your application will automatically be sent to the Tier II Advisory Board
- All grants are competitive
- All Late applications will be returned to the applicant
The Zoo, Arts and Parks Program is committed to fair and equitable access to Zoo, Arts and Parks funding and educational resources. It also works to increase the public awareness of the value of the Zoo, Arts and Parks program.
The Zoo, Arts and Parks program exists to enhance financial support of Salt Lake County’s zoological, cultural and botanical organizations through the imposition, collection, and distribution of a 1/10th of 1% county sales and use tax. The program provides adequate predictable support for the organizations within the Zoological, and Tier I categories and provides enhanced support for the organizations within the Tier II category.
As indicated in State Statute, only 23 organizations may receive Zoo, Arts and Parks Tier I funding. More organizations may qualify, but the Tier I Advisory Board must recommend only 23. In their recommendation they will rank the organizations, in order to give the Salt Lake County Council additional information. All Tier I organizations must be private non-profit organizations with active 501(c)(3) status.
The Zoo, Arts and Parks programs does not fund video, radio and TV broadcast, magazines, newspapers, and cable, social service programs, parades, pageants, fireworks, rodeo, sister-city programs, and non-cultural celebratory activities.
