Flight Park ground breaking - April 24, 2008.
Flight Park, Point of the Mountain North
Address: 15400 South Steep Mountain Dr., Draper, Utah
Narrative:
The proposed project will focus on approximately 5 acres of 1 of the 2, 40 acre parcels that the County owns. Phase 1 upgrades will dramatically improve the conditions that patrons experience trying to launch and land in the park. Careful attention will be made to preserve and enhance the natural resources of the site while increasing the parks capacity for spectators and patrons of the park.
The current property consists of 80 acres of undeveloped County park space that borders the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and overlooks the entire valley. The park is currently used almost exclusively for paragliding and hang gliding. The park is widely known in the paragliding and hang-gliding communities as one of the top 5 best places in the world to soar because of its consistent favorable wind patterns.
NOTE: Access To The Park By The Public: The park will be closed to all access April 29th - through May 13, 2008. Park will re-open throug the construction period on a limited access basis. A temporary parking area will be provided.
